My Gear

Lately I've been doing a lot of shoots, and i gotta admit, Im getting a lot better compared to a few years back. Considering i went about 2 years without a DSLR. Anyways, usually when I'm out i get stopped and asked questions about my gear. People are shocked when they see me using a Pentax, thats primarily because Pentax does not do as much advertising like Nikon and Canon do.  So naturally people won't know what a Pentax is or they won't see much value in it. Thats understandable...

So i figured i show off my gear that i use for work, blog and for fun.

This might be the ugliest photo i have ever taken. It was taken in a dark room, with my iPhone lol. Yes, i have 2 iPhones...

Ill be listing my gear and giving a guesstimate of what everything cost me, along with brief specs.

MACBOOK PRO - 2996.00$

  • 2014 Model
  • 15" Retina
  • 2.3 GHz Intel Core i7
  • 16GB 1600MHz DDR3 Ram
  • OS X Yosemite

I use this laptop every single day! almost 12 hours a day sometimes. This is the lifeline of my blog and my career. The price was a bit steep for me but it paid for itself within a couple of months when my productivity increased and i was able to do so much more. Before this Mac i was working on windows based computers.... I will never ever go back to a windows computer....EVER!

  • IKEA 60min Kitchen Timer
  • GoPro Mount

This is a GoPro Hack that my cousin showed me. Its very easy to make. Simply get yourself a kitchen timer that has a flat top and is large enough to fit a GoPro adhesive mount. The idea is to use this for time lapse videos. Since the timer can rotate 360 degrees, it will create a cool 360 degree time lapse. It will also work for DSLRs.

  • Wireless
  • Tap & Swipe Capabilities

This is a must have if you're doing a lot of design work like myself. In general it is much better than using the pad on the laptop. I feel like i work twice as fast when using the magic mouse.

IPHONE 6 - 649.00$

  •  Apple
  •  iOS
  •  4.7 inch screen
  •  8 megapixel camera
  •  4G LTE

Carry an Extra iPhone strictly for photos and video, connect to wifi and i can edit on iMovie and share on instagram or youtube.

  • 32GB
  • USB
  • Small

A must have to transfer files between computers in the work place, with friends or at school

TASCAM TM-2X MIC - 74.99$

  •  Video / Film
  • Condenser
  • Unidirectional
  • Dead Cat

For higher quality sound i use this Tascam TM-2X Microphone on my Pentax. It has a deadbeat for even better noise and wind reduction and features pivot points that allow the mic to move while you move, without picking up extra noise.

  • Recharges 4 AA Lithium Batteries

Must have! when i need to charge and replace the batteries on my mouse, or other devices this comes in handy.

PENTAX K3 DSLR - 1260.00$

  • 24 effective mega-pixels in an APS-C sized CMOS sensor
  • SAFOX11 Autofocus Module

  • Fastest continuous shooting at 8.3FPS

  • Pentaprism Optical Viewfinder for 100% FOV and .95 magnification

  • Magnesium alloy body w stainless steel chassis

  • Fully Weather Sealed ( 92 Seals )

Ah yes, the Pentax K3 the most prized possession in my bag. When i first started shooting with Pentax i went with a K110D then upgraded to a K7 and now i run with the K3. The camera does everything i want it to do, and also has great video quality. It even shoots 4K time-lapse!

This camera has more controls on it than the Apollo 11 space craft, and I've only mastered less than half of them. i still have a lot to learn before i can unlock this cameras full potential.

  • Apple
  • iOS
  • Retina

I received this as a gift for my birthday from my brother and sister. Big thank you! this iPad comes in handy for school, work and for fun. It even works as a monitor on wifi for my go pro and DSLR!

GOPRO HERO 3 BLACK - 379.00$

  • WVGA, 240, 960, 720, 1080, 1440, 2.7, 4K
  • Action Camera
  • Weatherproof

This is an excellent toy to have in your bag, small enough to take almost anywhere and delivers great video quality. The huge range of accessories gives you endless shooting styles.

PENTAX 5Omm - 139.00$

  • 50mm
  • 1:1.8

Every photographer needs a 50mm in his or her bag. The majority of my shoots are done with this lens.

PENTAX 18-135mm - 179.00$

  • 18-135mm
  • 1:3.5 -5.6

This is my general lens, i use it whenever i need to focus on various subjects, when its raining or very cold out because its weather proof, or when i need to zoom in and out.

  • Lithium Ion 7.4V 1800mAh

These always come in handy, and although they are not Pentax branded, they are just as good and last just as long. If you're a serious shooter, you should pick up at least 2 extra batteries to have in your bag

  • 4 Hours of battery life
  • Weatherproof
  • USB port for charging external devices

This one here is a life saver, not only do i use it to extend my recording times wit the Gopro, but i also use it to charge my phone or iPad when I'm low on juice.

  • Raises up to about 5ft ( which is really good because I'm tall )
  • Carbon Fiber, Light Weight and strong
  • 360 Degree Rotating Ball Head

One of the best tripods I've ever used. Although its not the best for video.

  • Holds up to a 17" Laptop
  • Chest Straps
  • Large Top Pocket
  • Lightweight

I carry all my shit in here, its very spacious, comfortable and pretty stylish.
